Diverse Sources of Migration Flow through Central America
Mexico and the Central American countries, mainly El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, previously major sources of migration, now only make up half of migrant encounters. The rest comprise a diverse range of nationalities, including Venezuelans, Colombians, Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, Indians, Russians, Ukrainians, and Chinese. The infrastructure through Panama has facilitated this diverse migration flow due to restrictions in flying directly into the US or Mexico without valid visas.
