The ACC (enter-singulate cortex) receives input from various areas of the brain and body, including the amygdala and visceral organs. It is crucial for interpreting information about the body's internal state, as well as surface sensations like pain or itch. Working in tandem with the Insula, the ACC plays a pivotal role in making sense of signals from the brain and body, while the Insula also interprets these signals to understand what is happening internally.
