In a meritocratic workplace, one's college or university does not significantly influence success or performance. Excluding nepotism and demographic biases, factors such as brilliance, hard work, passion, and leadership qualities hold far more weight than academic institutions. Individuals from prestigious schools may struggle to succeed, particularly in entrepreneurship, as they may not cope well with failure. In traditional environments where success follows a clear ‘if-then’ reward system, they may perform adequately, but real-world challenges often expose limitations that are less apparent in structured settings.
