Allostasis: Understanding the Cycle of Order, Disorder, Reorder
Researchers have coined the term allostasis to describe the cycle of order disorder reorder, which is a more accurate model for how thriving individuals, organizations, and cultures interact with change. The old model, known as homeostasis, viewed change as inherently bad and something to resist. However, the new model recognizes that stability is found in new places after going through cycles of disorder. This concept can be compared to the three-act structure in storytelling, where characters transition from a safe environment to an unsafe and crazy world.
