Limitations of Language Models and Human Learning
While language models are powerful and can be used to build applications, they lack essential components for achieving human-level intelligence. Despite being trained on enormous amounts of text data, the knowledge they accumulate is minimal compared to real-world sensory input. A four-year-old's visual cortex processes significantly more information than the data trained on by language models. The majority of human learning and knowledge acquisition occurs through observation and interaction with the real world, rather than through language.
