Success makes the great man, according to Napoleon. Effective men take advantage of everything and neglect nothing that may give them added opportunity. Neglecting one thing can cause a less clever man to miss everything, according to LBJ. Warren Buffett's philosophy is to avoid the things that lead to death, which can apply to investing and life decisions.

If you want something like the presidency (or being a billionaire) you should presume there is someone out there who will devote all their time, money, relationships, sense of ethics, everything in sacrifice of that one goal.
