Autopoitic Enactivism and the Free Energy Principle - Prof. Friston, Prof Buckley, Dr. Ramstead

Machine Learning Street Talk (MLST)

NOTE

The Relationship Between Markov Blanket, Tracking Behavior, and the Free Energy Principle

The free energy principle states that if there is a Markov blanket in a dependency structure and subsets of the system are independent yet track each other, interesting behavior emerges. This principle challenges the anti-representationalism view, as it focuses on the generative model and the dependency structure rather than the representation in one's head. Mathematically, minimizing variational free energy is equivalent to maximizing entropy with constraints.
