Ryan learned his note-taking method from Robert Green. He started by transferring his highlights to a green notebook, and now uses a small moleskin for easy travel. He dedicates an entire notebook to the hero's journey. He prefers notebooks over note cards because he travels a lot. Reading helps leaders improve professionally and as individuals. The German psychologist Urban Ebenhaus discovered the forgetting curve, which shows that we forget 75% of what we read within 24 to 48 hours. Note-taking helps to combat this.
