The production and import of artificial trees from China have negative economic implications for struggling tree farmers. Additionally, the environmental impact of artificial trees is a concern due to the toxic materials they are made of and their eventual disposal in landfills. In contrast, real Christmas trees contribute to carbon absorption and emit less carbon dioxide when disposed of. Harvesting and replanting Christmas trees as a crop in the US contributes to sustainable forest management.
