NOTE

Aging Ovaries: Awareness Begins Early

Menopause is often misunderstood, with critical changes beginning much earlier than the final period. The arbitrary definition of menopause, requiring a year without a period, masks the fact that ovarian depletion starts in the 30s. From birth, the quantity and quality of eggs decline, which is noticeable only when a threshold is crossed, leaving many unaware of the changes. By age 30, approximately 10% of a woman's egg supply remains, dropping to about 3% by age 40, highlighting the importance of understanding ovarian aging well before menopause.
