The race to win AI — and hack iMessage

NOTE

16 year old reverse engineers IMessage moat

Beeper has reverse engineered the iMessage protocol, allowing them to create an iMessage client for Android called Beeper Mini. This app enables users to send iMessages from Android devices to Apple's iMessage servers without the need for a relay server, providing a seamless experience for Android users to communicate with iOS users. The process involves spoofing serial numbers of real Apple devices to enable iMessage on Android. Beeper Mini also supports RCS in Google Messages app for messaging with Android users. Although it does not support iMessage apps and games, it successfully replicates the iMessage experience on Android. In mixed groups of Android phones, Beeper Mini, and iPhones, the app will act as an iMessage, while iPhones will continue as iMessage, falling back to SMS when necessary. Additionally, the app can differentiate iMessage conversations from regular SMS and separate them accordingly.
