Challenges of Data Team Alignment and Pursuing Data Ops Platform

A client faced operational issues due to latency in a key monthly report, leading to the optimization of the platform. The goal was to pursue a data product and a data ops platform for improved agility and alignment with the technology team. Prior to intervention, various departments formed shadow data teams, hired data scientists, and created their own data products independently. This resulted in a disconnect between the tech team and departments, leading to challenges in aligning and coordinating efforts. There was a need to reign in these initiatives and clarify the role of the central data team to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure alignment towards common goals.
