The key to success in book publishing is avoiding disqualifiers and understanding the process. The industry is constantly looking for new content, making it less risky than other forms of media. To be successful, it's important to have a combination of a compelling topic and being the right person to write about it. For non-professional journalists, personal experience must make sense and be combined with enough writing experience to avoid amateurism. Many people struggle in the publishing process because they usually have two out of three necessary elements: a killer idea, being the right person to write about it, or a well-developed concept. Nonfiction book proposals should have razor-sharp ideas to attract publishers.
