Dave introduced the narrator to luminaries in the tech industry like Ward Cunningham and Kent Beck. This exposure led to learning about test-driven development and continuous integration. In the 90s, the narrator was a developer and in the early 2000s, they became a player coach, teaching others about automated testing and TDD. In 2010, they started full-time coaching and met Joel through David Husman's company. In 2015, they were part of the Dojo at Target. The narrator and Joel have collaborated on two books: Creating Your Dojo and Coaching for Learning.
