Ethereum's Evolution Post-Merge
Staking in Ethereum allows individuals to participate in network security by becoming validators, undertaking duties such as chain following and consensus voting. While the validator count is high (1 million), the actual number of participating nodes is significantly lower. Post-merge (Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake), Ethereum's direction became less defined, and upgrades occur through hard forks annually, incorporating features the network opts into. Although significant advancements like blobs for rollups and staking withdrawals have been implemented, a singular, overarching objective for Ethereum remains somewhat unclear. However, there is now a clearer communication around strategic priorities, particularly concerning the scaling roadmap, aiming to maximize network activity and rollup capacity for reduced fees and increased user participation.
