The Knowledge Project with Shane Parrish

NOTE

Great insights come from unconscious, not logic

Thinking involves a relentless asking of questions, leading to spontaneous insights that come out of the blue from the unconscious rather than from logical deductions. Ancient Greeks developed logic, which has its limits and can't unveil great truths. Logic alone has not answered all questions despite centuries of human reasoning. Major insights, like changing the world with inventions, often stem from unconscious thoughts, not from deliberate logical thinking. Listening to one's unconscious and allowing students to connect with their inner voice should be emphasized in education.
