The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast

NOTE

How to archieve the most with cheaters

Cooperating and starting with the assumption of cooperation allows nice, cooperative individuals to lose battles with cheaters, but ultimately win the wars because cooperators find each other. The tit-for-tat strategy, starting with cooperation and giving the benefit of the doubt, outcompetes all other strategies by being straightforward, easy to understand, punitive, and capable of forgiveness upon correction. This strategy raises the question of whether animals also adopt tit-for-tat strategies in competitive circumstances.
