"Money dramas are not like the drama of encountering a predator," says author. We need to be able to save for the future and enjoy the moment, he adds. "I'm also reflecting that money scripts in some ways teach us to be vigilant to the kinds of things that produced drama."

He says that while external economic forces often shape our financial well-being, our unconscious beliefs about money also contribute to how well we manage our money.
