In the oil-rich town of Osage County, Minnie Smith dies mysteriously, leaving behind her husband Bill. He later marries her sister Rita. Another sister, Anna, frequently disappears on wild nights out. One night in 1921, she goes missing and her responsible sister Molly seeks help from her influential husband's uncle, William Hale, known as the 'King of the Osage hills'. Hale is a rich, powerful, and respected man in the community, and a reverend and deputy sheriff. Molly hopes he can help find her missing sister.
