The Evolution of Web Layout

The speaker remembers creating the fourth revision of their website, college and bogey.com back in 2013./nThis was before Figma and Sketch./nThe speaker had to design it all in Photoshop./nThe first few iterations of the design looked terrible because the text was too close to the edge of the box and the padding was too small./nBut then the speaker looked at a website that they admired and saw that they were putting a good 10 or 20 pixels of padding between the edge of the box and the text, and the line height in the font was 1.5 X the font size./nThis made the speaker start to learn the language and learn the best practices for web layout.
