We built an early version of temple to generate insurance documents in PDF format. Our real users complained about the cumbersome syntax, so we worked on a second version that resembled a function. We took a different approach from Plush, another Go template library, which aimed to replicate familiar syntax from another programming language. Both approaches have their merits, and I could easily use either depending on my needs.
