The need for workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is increasingly crucial to align with society and avoid exclusion. Reflecting society in the workforce is essential to benefit stakeholders, communities, and shareholders. Previously overlooked, questions about the lack of diversity in startups and business leadership are now being raised. Companies are now legally obligated to ensure fair representation. The traditional DEI department's role is evolving, possibly phasing out as these efforts should be integrated into HR and CEO responsibilities. The focus is shifting towards common sense, decency, and adhering to laws to enhance shareholder value. Promoting diversity enhances perspectives and ultimately shareholder value. Maintaining diversity throughout all levels of the organization is essential to avoid potential legal consequences and lawsuits for biased practices. Thus, fostering DEI is becoming a fundamental aspect of good management and executive practices.
