The Dunning-Kruger effect illustrates how individuals tend to overestimate or underestimate their abilities. The value of external perspective, such as from a coach or expert, is emphasized over self-assessment, as it helps uncover underlying drivers of actions. Encouraging double loop learning, which explores underlying motivations and beliefs, can be more effective than single loop learning that focuses on changing actions.
