In the late 70s, arcade games were making billions of dollars in annual revenue, with Space Invaders alone making $2 billion in the US. The market was bigger than the home console and personal computer industries combined, and by the end of the decade, the total arcade market was $5 billion - already bigger than movies and music. Who knew!
