Liberating Workers in a Free Market

The original libertarian thinkers believed that by freeing up markets and abolishing monopoly opportunities, workers would have the chance to become self-employed and set up businesses of their own. This would lead to an economy where virtually everyone was in business for themselves, liberating workers from being employees under the control of a boss. This view was not considered crazy during the revolutionary era, as about 90 percent of all free white workers in the United States were self-employed.
