Emotions play a significant role in shaping our habits and daily feelings. Practicing certain emotions regularly creates a habit and strengthens the associated 'muscle', much like physical exercise. Changing external circumstances does not automatically change our emotional habits. To change how we feel, we must actively practice the emotions we want to experience on a daily basis, such as happiness and contentment, more than negative emotions like anxiety and fear.
