Institutions vs. Common Sense

Institutions, unlike people, often lack common sense and humanity in their actions. Most individuals are inherently good, decent, and possess common sense. People have the capacity for humane behavior and logical reasoning. For instance, questioning the sense of producing oil to grow corn for producing sugars and syrup, feeding grain to livestock, and producing ethanol for cars highlights the disconnect between institutional actions and common sense.
