When the pandemic occurred, I was 39. And my mom was a social worker. She wants to point out she was a lawyer. Now she's a fundraiser. But growing up, she was asocial worker. My mom said, I chose a job to love and I need no money. You should choose a job that pays you a lot of money. So one day, I got the idea that it was going to be an artist. And so her goes, good art school, you've got to make a deal with me that you're not going to be 40 living with me. The good news is there, we have a lot of experience of squatters.
Airbnb CEO and co-founder Brian Chesky took the company public, laid off 25% of its staff and navigated worker demands for flexibility – all during the pandemic.
