Defining Trauma and its Complexity in Personal Psychology
Psychology and psychiatry need a better understanding and categorization of trauma. Currently, the DSM only offers PTSD and complex PTSD as diagnoses. However, each person's path through trauma is unique. There is a need for a more holistic and personal approach to understanding and treating trauma. The incorrect way is to simply make a list of traumatic events. The question of how to define trauma and label traumatic experiences is important.
