Light: A Key to Circadian Clarity

Red lights can be useful for visibility without disrupting the circadian clock, but they are not essential. Natural sunlight is crucial for setting circadian rhythms, yet light filtering through windows substantially reduces its effectiveness, taking significantly longer to synchronize the clock. Using a light meter app can help measure light intensity, revealing that sunlight passing through windows is much less bright. This diminishment in light does not scale linearly, meaning that reduced lux does not equate to proportionally increased viewing time needed to achieve the same effect on the circadian rhythm.
