Aesthetics play a role in scientific theories. Art also serves social purposes beyond creating experiences. When art and science overlap, interesting things can happen. The Perception Census project was a deep collaboration between art and science, using stroboscopic light to create visual hallucinations and explore the power of the mind. This project originated from the scientific study of the brain's reaction to strobe lights and the artist's desire to convey a social message.
