Faith Beyond Politics

The relationship between Catholicism and political ideologies is fraught with contradictions. Liberal Catholics often condemn the Church's political involvement regarding abortion while insisting on support for green energy initiatives. Criticism of the bishops for not divesting from fossil fuels underscores the expectation for the Church to align with certain political perspectives. Yet, official Church documents, like papal encyclicals, mix doctrine with scientific claims, which are not necessarily binding for Catholic belief. Consequently, Catholics are not mandated to adopt radical environmental policies, highlighting the distinction between faith and political movements.
