Perceptual Experiences and the Construction of Reality

Perception works in service of behavior, creating fun illusions and enabling magic tricks. Color is a product of our brain's interpretation of colorless electromagnetic radiation, where we perceive a vast spectrum of colors despite detecting only a fraction of the electromagnetic spectrum. Our experience of color is both less and more than what actually exists. Similarly, our sensory signals construct our subjective experience of the world, shaping properties that aid in our behavior. These properties are not solely located in the external world or the brain but rather in the continuous interaction between the brain, body, and surroundings.
