Journey of a Brilliant Young Ambassador in Europe

Wyatt, a brilliant young man, is chosen as an ambassador to travel to the great courts of Europe in 1526 and 1527. He visits France, Rome, Venice, Ferrara, and becomes acquainted with Machiavelli and Guicardini in an Italian jail. Wyatt's journey includes being captured by landsknechts, ransomed by Gonzaga princelings, and returned to the camp of the Papal Army. In 1537, he is sent to the imperial court of the Holy Roman Emperor and the King of Spain, Charles V.
