Statistics reveal that 38% of people do not follow procedures during a crisis primarily because they are unaware of the situation. Lack of situational awareness is a key factor influencing adherence to procedures. Procedures that provide an explanation for their existence tend to have higher adherence rates than those that simply list actions to take.
