It is important for people to agree on what is happening and then be able to disagree on their interpretations. Disagreement in a fractured society can lead to a loss of shared reality. There is a need to manage the information commons, similar to managing a shared water resource, to ensure equitable and fair distribution of information. Laws should protect the information commons from being optimized for personalized political content.
