Recognize Insight to Foster Inclusion

Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment requires asking critical questions and seeking genuine answers. Individuals who have distanced themselves from the church often possess a deeper understanding of its dynamics, recognizing both its strengths and weaknesses. To reengage with this group, it's essential to address the mischaracterizations they may have regarding spiritual experiences, rather than dismissing their insights. By reframing these experiences in a different light, such as viewing spiritual confirmations as psychological phenomena, the church can combat misconceptions. Emphasizing that leaving the church does not inherently equate to finding greater freedom or ease will help to retain members and foster a more inclusive atmosphere.
