It's not your fault but it is your problem. The first step to finding a solution is becoming aware of the behavior. The Hawthorne effect suggests that once you observe a behavior, it tends to change. To break the scarcity loop, you can remove or change the opportunity, unpredictable rewards, or quick repeatability. Slowing things down can also help. In chapter four of Scarcity Brain, the concept of feeling inadequate is discussed. This idea of not being enough is explored in the last chapter of the author's first book.
