Thinking in Public with Albert Mohler
**The novelty of dispensationalism **
In the United States, dispensational Christianity is a unique and relatively recent development. While there have been prior eschatological expectations and speculations, there was nothing quite like the systematic framework of dispensationalism. Some may point to predecessors like the Millerites, but their beliefs lacked the foundational elements of dispensationalism. Dispensationalists argue for an older history, but most historians agree that it was in the 1830s and 1840s that Darby laid the groundwork for what would become dispensationalism.
