Imagination Distorts Perception
Imagination can distort perception, as evidenced by experiments demonstrating change blindness. In one experiment, participants interacting with a person failed to notice when that person was swapped out for someone else. Similarly, in another experiment at Harvard, tourists were often unaware when the person interacting with them was switched out, even when the replacements were markedly different.
