The Art of Listening in Conflict Conversations
In conflict conversations, the belief that the other person is not listening can derail the discussion. To truly listen and prevent a shouting match, a technique called looping for understanding is effective. This technique involves asking deep questions, summarizing the other person's response in your own words, and confirming if you understood correctly. By seeking permission to acknowledge active listening, individuals are more likely to engage in meaningful dialogue and truly hear one another.
