Is There Any Merit to That Analogy?

There is another protein that is relevant to HDL, called SRB1. It acts as the major HDL receptor and is found on many cells, especially in the liver. SRB1 binds to the HDL particle, removes the cholesterol ester, and releases the cholesterol depleted HDL back into circulation.
