The Emergence of Civil War in Sudan
The difference in rule between the mainly Islamic North and the more Christian South of Sudan became an issue after the British withdrawal and Sudan's independence in 1956, leading to the first signs of civil war. This conflict continued until 2005, known as two civil wars.
