AI technology is powerful and valuable but requires regulation to prevent harm. Governments need to engage, understand, and implement regulations to ensure AI advances beneficially for society. Similar to other regulated industries like food, drugs, and transportation, AI technology also requires guardrails to control its impact and prevent misuse, as there are currently no regulations in place to control its potentially harmful outcomes.
