Ep 128 Skin Cancer: We love and fear the sun

This Podcast Will Kill You

NOTE

Understanding Sun Protection and Skin Cancer Epidemiology

We've made significant progress in understanding and treating skin cancers, but still struggle with using sun protection. Shame and blame aren't helpful in addressing the issue. Non-melanoma skin cancers are the most common, with basal cell carcinomas accounting for 70 to 80% of cases in the US. Incidence and prevalence rates are primarily reported in white people, but skin cancer can occur in people of all skin colors. Cancers in darker-skinned individuals are often more aggressive and detected at later stages.
