Human capital, unlike physical capital, often endures through conflict, allowing dynasties to maintain wealth and influence. Elite education not only preserves wealth but also instills skills and values necessary for subsequent generations to sustain and grow that wealth. This elite labor income is perceived as a product of merit, rendering it resistant to political redistribution. Society finds it easier to justify taxing inherited wealth than the earnings of those deemed to have 'built' their success. Therefore, new political arguments are essential to facilitate discussions on redistribution away from high-achieving elites, highlighting that acceptance of this redistribution could ultimately serve their long-term interests.
