The covenant with Abraham in Genesis 12-22 includes blessings for his family to bless the earth by following commandments. The descendants of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the 12 sons become the 12 tribes of Israel. Egypt symbolizes the world where the covenant people go, showing the importance of not being seduced by worldly comforts. The enslavement in Egypt leads to the need for deliverance, fulfilled by Moses leading them out of bondage.
