NOTE

The Importance of Starting with Great Architecture

Great products start with great architecture, and this approach is often overlooked. Many companies take incremental steps, building on existing technology. However, successful companies like Snowflake, ServiceNow, and Data Domain understand the importance of starting with a clean slate and envisioning great products from scratch. This mindset applies not only to products, but to everything. Instead of settling for mediocrity, we should aim for excellence and think about how we would do things if we had to start over. We should resist the temptation to simply dress up the same old tired ideas. The late Steve Jobs set a great example with his uncompromising and unyielding mentality of striving for insanely great products, even in the smallest details. We should constantly remind ourselves and those around us that our products need to excite us first in order to excite our customers. By holding ourselves to this high standard, we open up new opportunities that we couldn't have even imagined.
