Face Validity Is Not Enough

Face validity is not sufficient to ensure a measure is tapping into the desired construct. Just because something appears to be what you are looking for doesn't guarantee that it actually is. Face validity can be important but should not be the sole criteria for evaluating a measure's effectiveness. It's like getting an invite to the party, but it doesn't guarantee you entry or acceptance. Face validity may help you get your foot in the door, but further evaluation, such as content validity, is necessary to ensure the measure is valid and reliable.
