NOTE

Using a Planetarium to Determine Migratory Directions

Emlyn demonstrated in the planetarium how birds can be trained to use the night sky for navigation. By manipulating the planetarium, he made the sky rotate around Orion's left shoulder. When the birds grew up, they treated Orion's left shoulder as the north star and fluttered towards the southerly direction they wanted to migrate. This experiment showed the power of science in understanding animal behavior and navigation.
